A fresh Dropbox for iPhone & iPad

Posted by Tim Van Damme on November 21, 2013

There’s a new Dropbox for iPhone and iPad out today, featuring a refreshed design inspired by Apple’s iOS 7! We considered every aspect of the app, took the time to make sure we did a thorough job, and simplified a whole bunch of stuff.

The new Dropbox app is a bit like a new beginning for Dropbox on iOS. While many things will feel familiar, we hope you’ll notice the small tweaks that make a pretty big difference. And maybe best of all, it sets the stage for some exciting things to come.

If you’ve got an iPad or iPhone, go grab the new Dropbox from the App Store!

The contrast is too high. My eyes need a bit love and a bit more colours. :(

The app crashes after opening.

I like the new design! However, may I suggest a new functionality? I use dropbox to store articles I use in my everyday work. While the PDF visualisation embedded in DB works really well, it would be nice to have the possibility of annotating the PDF, in the same way I do on my iMac. In this way my annotated PDF is automatically shared among all my other devices. Thanks you :)

What about the Android app?

Why you make white icon? The blue one look nicely in dock between other blue ones :(

The blue icon was better

How do I view files/photos in full screen? That little arrow has disappeared. I’ve been swiping everywhere trying to do this.

New iOS7 design is awful.

It’s lost all personality. It doesn’t look like the Dropbox app anymore, it looks like a generic iOS7 app. Disappointing at first, but I’m sure it will grow on me.

When will you release a windows phone app ?

This is one of the most ugly, lazy, uninspired and uninspiring iOS7 redesigns I have seen so far.
Gaudy blue skeletal “buttons” over a white control bar, clashing with the gaudy blue-skeletal-over-white content items ?
Photos over white background ?
It’s awful and unusable.
I won’t ever open this app again yet from my beloved DropBox.

It won’t “grow on you”. You’ll just eventually get used to something that’s ugly. Don’t let that happen.

I like the new Dropbox-app! I was so used to the blue icon that I could find it in my sleep. Now I have the excitement of looking for the new, beautiful, iOS7-ish icon all over my phone screen. And the best thing is: It looks so generic, it can easily be confused with other app-icons! What a great way to add a new thrilll to a good-working tool.
Also, the new design is so easy on the eyes. Instead of a clear light-dark colour, my eyes can relax when they look at a white conrol bar, a white document-list, a white-gray bottom bar…So peaceful! So avant-garde!
They say “Never change a running system”, but I guess that’s not something Dropbox (or most of the app-developers) has ever heard of.

I much prefer Copy, get 20GB for free, and has a great interface! https://copy.com?r=UNgCNu

I love Dropbox, but I switched to SkyDrive because it gives me 25 GB of storage, plus better integration with Microsoft Office. If you guys give us more storage capacity I will consider coming back.

It never remains open more than a couple of seconds before closing, every time I open the updated version.

Seriously, fix the update. It is doing nothing but crashing in iOS 7.0.4. It will not remain open more than a second without closing, so I have no access to my files.

I think the new app looks and works great. I’m not seeing any issues with crashing at all. I like how it looks more iOS 7′ish… Great work guys. Most importantly – dropbox sync actually works unlike a lot of other competitors out there, and LAN sync is sweet!

Terrible update and buggy. Where is “open in…” gone? And your privacy policy is a piece of shit

what an awful flatland of withe!! the old app looked a way much better! colors are not bad at all, they enrich the experience and help intuitiveness. all this withe is just counter intuitive! please move back! this is not an upgrade! it’s a downgrade!

ah… and you don’t have a second chance to make a first impression! :(
sorry, but for me it’s a “not like”!

The “open in ….” function was great! Now I have to email myself to open the file in another app…. Please update to include this again!!
