There’s a new Dropbox for iPhone and iPad out today, featuring a refreshed design inspired by Apple’s iOS 7! We considered every aspect of the app, took the time to make sure we did a thorough job, and simplified a whole bunch of stuff.

The new Dropbox app is a bit like a new beginning for Dropbox on iOS. While many things will feel familiar, we hope you’ll notice the small tweaks that make a pretty big difference. And maybe best of all, it sets the stage for some exciting things to come.

(Super) New Dropbox for iOS!

Looking for something to warm you up this holiday season? Go make some hot chocolate!

In other news, we’ve updated the Dropbox experience for your iOS devices, so you can have even more holiday cheer with your new phones and tablets.

New photos experience
Now all of your photos are right at your fingertips with the brand new Photos tab. With just a tap, you’ll be able to scroll through a timeline of all the photos you’ve automatically uploaded (including the pocket-dialed ones too). And since Dropbox is a one stop shop for all your memories, you can also check out the photos you’ve uploaded from everywhere else!

Also, when you select a photo, you’ll be able to view it in full-screen glory with nary a button in sight. This means you can get maximum real estate when you’re flipping through puppy photos, or those pics of your bare feet. And to make things even better, our new speedy scroller will help you navigate all the way back to time immemorial (or your earliest photos) in seconds. Even if you have “Billions and Billions” of them.

Upload directly to folder
We’ve streamlined the way you upload to your Dropbox, too! Just navigate to the folder of your choice, then tap the “+” icon to upload something or create a new folder. You’ll love how easy it is.

Shiny new design
We’ve packed a ton of love and tiny details into our new iOS design, and we think you’ll dig its simplicity. For example, we got rid of the text labels on our tabs in favor of clean and streamlined iconography. Splashed across the app is the glorious Dropbox blue you’ve come to know and love, and we’ve reduced complexity to make everything feel so fresh and so clean, clean.

We think subtlety’s awesome, and careful eyes will find more nuances like our “barely-there” gradients and our delicate lines. You might also notice a brand new app icon refreshed and ready for action. Between us, your home screen looks kinda empty without this gem, and we think you should go grab it now.

Ready to cure your app-athy? Go get the latest version of Dropbox for iOS!

Yet another iPhone post ;)

I’m not the kind of guy that likes prefacing an announcement with a wall of text, so let’s cut to the chase:

Big announcement:
the iPhone app is now available for 3.0! Go get it

Other stuff: We initially opted for 3.1 because API methods related to saving videos were not available on 3.0. This meant that videos taken within the app would be permanently lost in the event of a flaky/slow internet connection. This happened to us enough in testing that we felt it wasn’t a risk we wanted to expose to our users.

That said, Will, the maestro of our iPhone app, deftly crafted a solution for this problem. The result is what you see in the app store today! Will also says that there will be plenty of bug fixes to come in the future, as well as a huge feature push when 1.5 arrives. Please feel free to let us know in the forums how the app is working out for you!

PS. I know we’ve had some heartache in the past, but to those of you who rated us down for not having 3.0 support the first time around… could you maybe find it in your hearts to give us another chance? We’ve changed, we promise! This time we’ll be good!

So is the Dropbox iPhone app out yet?

iPhone Sneak Peek!

Good news everyone!  The Dropbox iPhone app was officially submitted to the iTunes store last week and now we’ve got to play the waiting game.  Since all of you have been playing the waiting game for far longer than we have (and secrets, secrets are no fun), we’ve decided to give you a sneak peek at some of the features our app will be packing once our benevolent masters at Apple approve it:

Access your Dropbox on the go
-  All the contents of your Dropbox are available for viewing.  You can even stream music and movies in your Dropbox straight to your iPhone.

Download files for offline viewing  – Add files to your ‘Favorites’, and they’ll be accessible at any time.

Take photos and videos and sync them to your Dropbox  – Take a photo from your iPhone and email its public link to a friend in less than a minute.

Share links to files in your Dropbox  – What?  Any file in your Dropbox?  Srsly?

Photo galleries  – Just like the ones online.

We’ll of course keep y’all updated on the app’s submission process, but keep your fingers crossed!  We should also add that Will’s been chipping away at a lot more fun stuff for the iPhone and that the first version of the app is only the beginning of something far more epic.  Sit tight!
