The future of Dropbox is here—and it’s riding with The McLaren Formula 1 Team
Published on March 10, 2025
Dropbox has The McLaren Formula 1 Team’s back. And we mean that quite literally—as an Official Technology Partner, our logo is featured on the rear wing of the McLaren MCL39.
And just like The McLaren F1 Team, we’re focused on making big strides this year. With more than 700 million users already familiar with Dropbox and its ability to secure, organize, and share business content, we’re excited for even more people to learn about our latest offering: Dropbox Dash, which is featured on the MCL39 this year.
Dropbox Dash combines AI universal search and organization with universal content access control, making it easy for teams to find, organize, share, and secure their work. By serving as Dash’s design partners, The McLaren F1 Team helped us build a product that meets the exacting security and usability needs of high-performing teams. With over 1,200 employees across the globe—and terabytes upon terabytes of data and content being shared and accessed among them—The McLaren F1 Team made for the perfect test subject.
“In F1, you have to maximize efficiency to stay competitive,” Dan Keyworth, Director of Business Technology at McLaren Racing, says. "With Dropbox Dash, we're now working smarter. Dash has the power to save us countless hours, and even days, previously spent searching for content.”
As evidenced by the other logos on their F1 car, Dropbox is just one of many tools supporting The McLaren F1 Team in their pursuit of excellence. By using the platform-agnostic Dash, the Team can find what they need quickly and easily across all those tools.
"We might have details about an event…stored in emails, the schedule in Smartsheet, and then public information about the Formula 1 weekend,” Keyworth explains. “The ability to pull all of that together and summarize it seamlessly in one place—and in just seconds—is hugely beneficial for a team that’s focused on working faster, and more efficiently. These insights are a game-changer for ensuring tighter security and better control over sensitive data.”
Protecting their intellectual property is critical, as targeted attacks and security threats are a common in the sport. Dash gives The McLaren F1 Team full command over their content with robust yet easy-to-use access permission controls. Admins can see who has access at the individual document level and update permissions for any amount of assets in seconds.
