The future of filmmaking with Dropbox at Sundance Film Festival 2025

Dropbox has been a long-time supporter of the creative community, and we’re thrilled to be a sponsor for the Sundance Film Festival for our tenth year. Filmmakers, producers, and more trust and depend on Dropbox to bring their creative visions to life. In fact, 68% of feature films at this year’s festival used Dropbox in their process.

Independent filmmakers often work with scrappy budgets that require creative solutions and efficient collaboration. Technology can be a powerful equalizer, enabling creators to overcome these challenges and achieve their artistic goals—in many cases, allowing them to work on the same project from different devices, locations, and time zones.

That’s why so many creatives rely on Dropbox, which has evolved from a simple file-sharing service to a comprehensive platform for creative collaboration. And new products like our AI-powered universal search tool Dropbox Dash make it easy for anyone to search, organize, and share content and files from across their connected apps—all in one place—giving people more space to do their most creative work without the unnecessary organizational chaos.

This year, we’re hosting our first-ever brand house: Dropbox at 501 Main, a three-day experience featuring panels on the future of filmmaking, product demos, and more. Filmmakers, creatives, and industry peers are invited to celebrate the entire creative journey—concept to completion—and explore how collaborative tools bring bold ideas to the screen.

Introducing Dash for Business

Dash combines AI universal search, organization, and content access control. Find, secure, organize, and share from your company’s apps, files, and tabs—all in one place.

The future of filmmaking

This year, Dropbox will host two in-depth discussions on Friday and Sunday exploring the intersection of technology and creativity, moderated by acclaimed film and television producer Effie T. Brown. And on Saturday, we’ll co-present a panel with IndieWire on the new frontier of AI in filmmaking, moderated by Chris O'Falt, Executive Editor of Crafts & Special Projects for IndieWire. Here’s a preview of this year’s programming:

Brave new worlds: How technology is expanding filmmaking
This Friday panel will showcase helpful examples of how technology can be a partner in creative work—not a usurper.

How filmmakers can ethically & artistically use AI
In partnership with IndieWire, this Saturday event will explore how artists are utilizing the power of AI in their film projects in creative, responsible ways.

How technology widens our storytelling lens
Tech innovations have not only changed the way films get made, but who makes them. This panel, taking place Sunday, will discuss how tech gives creators from all walks of life the freedom to tell their stories.

Filmmakers use Dropbox for everything from storing and sharing terabytes of footage to collecting and actioning feedback—all within a secure and accessible environment. And Dropbox is constantly exploring ways to improve our products to better serve the needs of creative professionals, giving filmmakers even more opportunities to work faster and more seamlessly with their teams and peers.

We’re thrilled to continue to empower filmmakers, creatives, producers, and more with a suite of powerful tools, like Dash, specifically designed to make work easier.
