We’re always looking for new ways to improve how you create and work together using Dropbox. That’s why we recently launched several new productivity tools to help you get work done and advanced sharing features to give you more control. And we’re just getting started: we’re working on even more collaboration and security updates to improve your Dropbox experience. To support these changes, we’ve made a few updates to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Here’s a summary of the key additions.
- Privacy Shield. Protecting our customers’ privacy and keeping data secure are our highest priorities, which is why we’re excited to be certified under the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework. Our Privacy Policy has been updated to provide information about the Privacy Shield program and our certification.
- Profile visibility. As we’ve seen with features like the Dropbox badge and commenting, when teams know who they’re working with, it helps keep everyone on the same page. We’ve updated the Privacy Policy to show that Dropbox may display some of your basic profile information (like your name and profile picture) when you choose to collaborate with others.
- Teammate and team discovery. It’s easier to collaborate when you can quickly find who you’re working with. We’ve updated our Privacy Policy to show that Dropbox and Dropbox Business team names may be visible to users if they’re on the same domain as the team. Team admins can disable this function if they prefer to keep their teams hidden. We’re also exploring new ways to help users on the same business or organization domain find each other.
- User terms. We want our Terms of Service to be easy to understand, so we’ve clarified how you can cancel your account, and when you qualify for a refund. For users outside the US, we’ve also added information about how your country’s laws govern your Dropbox agreement.
You can read the full Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which will go into effect on February 10, 2017. To help you understand exactly what’s changed, we’ve posted our previous Terms of Service and the old version of our Privacy Policy, with the changes highlighted. We’ll be emailing users about these updates over the coming weeks. For more details, visit our Help Center. Update (10:10 am): Added links to old versions of Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
