Hey everyone! I feel like a broken record when I say this, but it's always surreal to look back on the crazy ride we've taken as a company the past two and a half years (has it really been that long?) I remember my first day as a Dropbox member pretty well. Since I was fresh out of school, I really didn't know what to expect, but the answers came quicker than I thought-- Am I supposed to dress nice? (If by nice you mean hoodies and flip flops, sure.) Will I be doing 9-5 every day? (If you feel like it! Most do 12-8.) Will all the other kids make fun of me? (Not if you make fun of them first.) After building my own desk and computer as a rite of passage, things kicked into full swing. From the beginning, I was able to choose my own projects (our
infamous 404 page started off as a random side project) and work on problems that were both engaging and required me to learn on the spot. It's no lie that startups make you wear many hats. In the early days, I'd start the morning with support in email and forums, make several drawings in the afternoon, then spend the evening working closely with Aston to touch up www.getdropbox.com. Even two years later, it's easy to forget that I'm overly spoiled by the freedom here. I've always been able to hop between several different projects, then push them out to millions of people days later. While we work hard, we've always played just as hard. I'm willing to bet a ton of money that most companies don't end their workdays with LANs of Starcraft 2 or jam sessions. Other notables include whiskey Fridays, a company DDR machine (not joking), and Laser Tag. While Dropbox has definitely grown since I've joined, almost nothing has changed. New members will still get to choose exactly what they want to work on, and they won't find any shortage of fun here. They also don't have to fish through a bunch of bureaucracy to get stuff done either. That's why you should
come work here! Not only do you get the most amazing work environment ever (located in beautiful San Francisco), but you get a bunch of benefits too! And unlimited Dropbox space! Not a shabby deal if you ask me. In all honesty though, I really do encourage everyone in the job hunt to
check us out and see if we're a good fit. I promise it'll be worth your while! :D
