If you’re on the hunt for a new job, you don’t need us to tell you that it’s competitive out there. Professionalism, speed, and attention to detail can go a long way when you’re trying to set yourself apart from other candidates. So here are a few ways you can use Dropbox to make a good impression with recruiters and hiring managers.

Sending your resume

Have you ever sent your resume off to apply for a great position, only to realize it had a typo? Next time, try sending your resume with a shared link instead of an email attachment. This gives you flexibility you wouldn’t normally have, because you can update a document in your Dropbox without having to send a new link. Just save over your old version, and anyone visiting the link you shared will get the up-to-date copy. This way, you’re free to fix mistakes in your resume, even after you’ve sent it. Shared links work for folders, too. If you’re applying for a job that requires writing samples or a creative portfolio, sharing a Dropbox folder is a fast and easy way to send them all at once. Just create a shared link to the folder, and you won’t have to worry about things like email attachment size limits or spam filters.

Creating a system

Dropbox can also help you stay organized during your job search. Start by creating a folder for your job hunt, then make sub-folders for each company you’re applying to. Use these folders to store the resume and cover letter you’ve customized for each role, plus notes, contact information for the interviewers, and screenshots of important emails. If there’s a chance you’ll be offline — maybe when you’re riding the train to an interview — be sure to favorite any files you’ll need in the Dropbox mobile app. That way they’ll be easy to find and view, even if you lose your data connection. These are just a few ways you can stay organized, look professional, and move quickly during your search. What are some of your favorite tips for using Dropbox while job hunting?
