We know how important it is to consider user-friendliness when evaluating new technology; it can boost productivity and even save money.

We were curious, though, about whether this was a widely known best practice. So when we attended Techweek Chicago last week, we did an informal survey among the businesses we talked to.

And guess what? The word is out — ease of use is super important to businesses when evaluating new technology. Of those who responded, more than 9 in 10 (92%) said it was “very important.”

In fact, user-friendly tech was seen as having a direct impact on the company’s bottom line — for some businesses, it was more impactful than having a bigger team, a larger marketing budget, or more offices/locations.

While these results may not come as a surprise, one area was particularly newsworthy — the importance of having access to work files anytime, anywhere.

Some respondents said accessibility of work files was more important than managing less email, having a bigger team, or even having more vacation time.
