This week's post is for all the Dropbox for Business admins out there. We know that sometimes your job involves keeping track of a million things at once — especially when it comes to protecting company information. So today we'll outline three ways to do just that in your Dropbox for Business account. Sometimes all you need is some high-level information, like whether a password was changed, or if an account has been active in an unexpected location. Basic account activity — like sign-ins, password changes, and linked devices — is chronicled on the activity feed in the Admin Console. To narrow things down, you can sort your team’s activity feed by categories like Sharing, Devices, Passwords, and more. But what if you need a more in-depth look at activity, like shared file access events, IP addresses, or role changes? By creating a sharing report you can get a full picture of account activity within any time period you specify. You can do this for a single user, or your entire team, and it gets exported as a CSV file that you can then analyze using any number of tools. And when you need to pull out the big guns, just look to one of many third-party enterprise apps now available to you via the new Dropbox for Business API. As an admin, you can now perform eDiscovery and legal hold, data loss prevention, and security information and event management (SIEM) with Guidance, CloudLock, and Splunk. All it takes is a one-time setup between your Dropbox account and the app of your choice, and Dropbox will supply all the necessary data for you to enable critical security and compliance processes.
